A heritage marked by time
Built in 1897 by Gustave Avice, the Château de la Forêterie has served a variety of purposes throughout the 20th century: family home, artists' retreat, then requisitioned building during World War II. Damaged in 1944 and then left abandoned for several decades, since 2015 it has been undergoing an ambitious restoration project led by François Avice, with the support of the Fondation du Patrimoine et du Territoire (Heritage and Territory Foundation).
Today, La Forêterie is gradually regaining its place in the Sarthe landscape. Renovated and reinvested, the château is once again opening its doors to gatherings, events, and cultural life that extend its history.
